I've Seen ROCKNROLLA

"Alright. Which one of you blokes stole my favorite wife-beater shirt?"

This story is about a couple of ex-cons trying to get enough money for a down payment to purchase some expensive London real estate.

It stars King Leonidas from the movie 300, Thandie Newton from Mission Impossible 2, and Tom Wilkinson who played the loony lawyer in George Clooney's Michael Clayton. Tom Wilkinson's performance as the old school mob boss was the strongest and I wouldn't object, at all, to Tom receiving an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Lenny Cole.

RocknRolla was produced, written, and directed by Madonna's ex-husband, Guy Ritchie. To me, this flick wasn't as good as Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Although, it was able to keep my interest throughout its 114 minute run time. There are a few parts that try to be funny, but only a scant couple managed to make me crack a brief chuckle. The ending is nicely set up for a sequel, which is pretty much pointless because this film wasn't even able to globally gross $20 million at the box office.

If in school you did poorly in English, you might want to steer clear of this movie when it hits video shelves. The dialogue has British accents that are quite strong and would cause the average viewer to quickly lose interest or get lost within the storyline. Despite that small little detail, I recommend that RocknRolla is well worth renting.
